Who we are
MCQz (mcqz.pk) is a free educational website that provides chapter-wise multiple-choice practice tests for Pakistani board students. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean MCQz.
What we collect
If you practise without an account. We set a random identifier in a cookie so that your practice progress can be saved on our servers and shown back to you. It is a randomly generated value — it is not your name, your email address, or anything else that identifies you personally.
If you create an account. We store the name and email address you give us, your password in hashed form, the board, class and subjects you select, and the history of the tests you take.
Automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard access information such as the pages requested and the time of the request. We also use privacy-focused, cookie-less page-view analytics that report aggregate traffic, not individual visitors.
Cookies we set
- A progress cookie — a random identifier that links this browser to its saved progress. It is marked HttpOnly (so scripts cannot read it) and lasts up to 400 days.
- A board cookie — remembers which board you selected so the site does not ask again on every page.
- Session cookies — set only when you sign in, so the site knows you are logged in and keeps your session secure.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google and other third-party vendors as described below.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the progress cookie means your practice progress will not be saved.
Advertising and third-party vendors
MCQz is free and is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.com.
- For more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google’s partner sites policy.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we use Google’s certified consent management platform to ask for your consent before personalised advertising cookies are set. Until you consent, ads are served on a non-personalised basis. We do not sell your personal information.
How we use information
- To provide the practice tests and show your progress and results.
- To merge progress saved as a guest into your account when you register.
- To answer messages you send us and correct reported errors in the question bank.
- To keep the site secure and working, and to understand aggregate usage.
- To display advertising that keeps the site free.
Service providers
We use a small number of third parties to run the site. Google provides advertising and the consent tool described above; our hosting and analytics provider serves the site and reports aggregate traffic. These providers process data under their own privacy policies, linked above or available from them on request. We do not share your personal information with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
Retention and security
Guest progress is kept while the browser identifier is active. Account data and test history are kept while your account exists. Passwords are stored only in hashed form. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
MCQz is intended for secondary-school students aged 13 and above, and for the teachers and parents who support them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to delete your account and its test history. Write to info@mcqz.pk from the address associated with your account, or see the contact page for other ways to reach us.
